First prepare the yeast dough. To do this, crumble the yeast into the lukewarm milk and stir.
Put the flour in a bowl, form a hollow, pour in the sugar and the yeast dissolved in the milk, mix lightly, cover and let rise in a warm place for about 20-30 minutes.
Then knead the dampfl together with the remaining ingredients to a smooth yeast dough. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
Knead the dough and let it rise again for 1/2 hour. Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Divide the dough into 8 – 10 equal parts.
Form 3 equal strands from each of the individual dough pieces and press them together at the upper end, then braid the 3 strands together to form a pigtail.
Put the flesserl on the baking tray and let them rise for another 10 minutes. Brush the flesserl with beaten egg and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Preparation Tip:
You can also sprinkle the poppy seed flesserl with other grains, such as sesame, linseed orSonnenblumenkernen.
