For the spiced apple pie, peel the apples, remove the core and grate coarsely. Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites to a snow.

Cream the egg yolks with the sugar, vanilla sugar and butter. Mix the spices with the grated apples and add to the mixture.

Mix the flour with the baking powder and fold into the mixture alternately with the beaten egg whites. Line a large baking dish (or smaller baking tray) with baking paper.

Pour in the batter and bake the spiced apple pie at 180°C on top/bottom heat for about 45 minutes.

Preparation Tip:

The spice apple pie tastes especially good when it is still a little warm. Serve with a cup of rooibos tea or black tea with milk and sugar.
