For the spaetzle casserole, first prepare and strain the spaetzle.

Put them in a bowl and add the chopped onion, peppers, ham and tomatoes.

Stir in tomato paste and crème fine and season with plenty of oregano. Season with salt and pepper and mix everything well.

Pour the mixture into a baking dish and cover with the Gouda.

Finally, sprinkle with oregano and place in the oven at 180 °C for about half an hour. If the cheese gets too brown, cover with aluminum foil.

After that, the spaetzle casserole can be served.

The spaetzle can be prepared according to my recipe "Basic recipe spaetzle". The spaetzle casserole can also be prepared very well vegetarian. To do this, simply omit the ham and replace it with steamed vegetables, for example.
