Total time: 1 hour

For the poppy seed rolls, heat milk and 125 ml water in a saucepan and dissolve the yeast in it. Sift the flour into a baking bowl and add salt. Gradually stir the egg and yeast solution into the flour until a smooth dough is formed.

Now form the dough into a ball and cover it in a bowl with a tea towel. Leave to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.

Knead the dough again and divide it into 14 pieces of 60 g each. Roll the pieces into small balls. Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Dip each ball into the butter. (This greasing will make the rolls easier to separate later).

Place in the buttered pan, spacing them a bit apart, and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Brush the risen dough balls with egg yolk and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake the poppy seed rolls at 200° Celsius in a preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes.

Preparation Tip:

Serve the poppy seeds for snack with cheese or jam!
