For the Irish-style lamb, dice the meat, clean the root vegetables, wash and cut into pencil-thick strips.

Peel the onion and cut into rings. Peel and quarter the potatoes. Tie peppercorns, Maggi herb and marjoram in a linen patch.

Wash and quarter cabbage. Place meat with root vegetables, onion rings and potato quarters in a large casserole.

Put the spice bag in the middle, salt and put cabbage quarters. Pour in cold water up to the height of the cabbage, cover and cook slowly over low heat for 30 minutes until tender.

When serving, place a cabbage quarter on top of each serving and serve with the Irish-style lamb.
